Hi,

I have a Aspire V5 - 571P and the hard drive died. On replacing it I get a "operating system not found" error. It won't let me get in to the bios by pressing F2, Fn + F2, Del, Esc, F12, F10 or many other combinations of keys. It won't let me get to a boot menu and it won't boot from CD or USB. The old drive is dead completely so I can't put it back in to enter the bios through wondows.

Is there any suggestions for me please. Is there a key combination I have missed?

Thanks Janelle

Just remove the new drive and you should boot up just fine, then reboot using windows system advanced startup and boot to bios.

Now change your boot drive, save and power down. Reconnect your new drive and reboot.

I don't have a working drive with an operating system on it to boot to to be able to change the settings that way.

the bootable USB is EFI compatible?

    1) download a windows 10 iso using Microsof tool:
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209
select the proper windows 10 version (the same installed on your laptop) and choose to save it as iso file when prompted
    2) download Rufus:
    http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US
plug your USB flash drive, run Rufus then:
select ISO image from the dropdown menu near "Create a bootable disk"
click on the little icon on the right and browse to the windows 10 downloaded iso file
as Partitions scheme select "GPT partition scheme for UEFI"
    as File system select "FAT32"
    click on Start
wait until it finish, then uplug your USB flash drive

then plug the USB flash drive to your laptop and check if it boots from it.
