no battery detected - tried hard reset, update bios, tightening screws

Member Posts: 2 New User

Aspire v5 122P

No battery is detected. Has been working as per normal, then suddenly starts saying this - did not drop the laptop, have not installed any new hardware, have not installed any new software.

Tried a 'hard reset' - battery is built in so can't remove battery when doing it (power down, removed AC charger, held power button for 15 seconds)

Tried to update the bios - downloaded the file from ACER, but it can't run because it doesn't detect a battery

Tried tightening the screws on the underside - no change as all screws were tight.

How can I fix this problem?

    sl,

There is a battery reset pinhole on the bottom of the notebook, if you would like to see if that helps reset it. It has a small battery symbol next to it, it's only big enough for something the size of a paperclip.

Just tried it (held in for 5-10 seconds) with the laptop both powered down and while it is turned on - but still no avail...

    Hmm.

    sl,

I believe the next course of action would be to contact Acer technical support to see what your options are.
