The touchpad on my new Aspire V3-572P can not double tap or click. i can move the cursor around to highlight but i can not tap or click to open apps or links. It is running in Win 8.1 64-bit.

some information on touch pad:

                        Driver Provider: Microsoft

                        Driver Date: 6/21/2006

                        Driver Version: 6.3.9600.17041

                        Driver Signer: Microsoft Windows

I do not think it is a hardware problem. It might just need to install the right driver. Any idea how to solve the problem? If not, I will return my laptop to store for refund even though i think it is a good computer, hardwarewise.

The version of TouchPad drivers you have mentioned is quite old. You can download the latest drivers and check if that works. To do this, follow the steps below:
    1. Go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
    2. Go to the box below "Search by Product Model" and type Aspire V3-572P. Click "Search".
    3. Once your model appears on the screen, click the drop-down menu besides "Operating System" and select your Windows version.
    4. Go to "Driver" tab and download the latest TouchPad drivers for your model.
    Hope this will help you.
