need to downgrade from 64bit to 32bit on my Aspire V5-561P.
I recently purchased an Aspire V5-561P. I have some old software that will not run on 64bit machine. I have a copy of windows 8.1 32bit.
I am not concerned abot memory issues. I know that 32bit has 3gb imitation
are there available 32bit drivers
thanks

Try installing the software in compatability mode.

These programs are 16bit programs and will not work in 64bit environment.

if they are DOS compatible programs, you can try DOS box:
or better vDOS:

These are windows applications. they work fine in 32bit windows 7 and earlier. One product I use is Lotus 1-2-3. I know that I am nuts, but I like it and find it easier to use than excel. I also use an old version of timeslips for windows 8.0

if you have the windows 8.1 x86 installation disk, you can boot from it, choose the partition called ACER, delete it and install in the raw space.

Can you go into more detail? Are you saying that I can have part of the computer running as 64bit and part as 32bit?

Nope.
I'm saying that you need to delete the installation partition on your HDD to install your windows x86I'm not an Acer employee.0 -
So I would be setting up a dual boot?

1) launch Acer erecovery, do factory DVD/USB media
or better
1a) clone your HDD to another external HDD
2) erase the HDD on your V5
3) install windows 8.1 x86 in your system without dual boot, since you told that you don't need addressing 4gb of ram

Mostly x64 drivers package contains x86 too, by the way will be probably easy to find x86 drivers:
