    PeeCee,

The V5-122P is in the list of eligible systems. We have an article created here that talks about an app to perform a check if the icon is not appearing.

I also have this model the V5-122P-0643 to be exact.  I too am not able to get the Windows 10 update app to appear.  My machine is up to date, and I've also followed all the steps referenced here in this Microsoft Support Article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3081048

When running the troubleshooter app this is what it says at first:

    win10-not-compatible.png

After running the app it tells me that my machine is not up to date:

    win10-not-compatible-2.png

It states that Windows is not up to date, yet it is:

I don't know what else to try here.... Here's my PC info:

    Please advise, thanks in advance.

    Mitalis,

I can only suggest that you keep working to get it, the update and such is coming from Microsoft directly. There are specific KB updates that have to be installed and a few other things. You can visit the Microsoft website and check with them for troubleshooting the upgrade, here is a direct link to the Answer Desk to get assistance.

My Acer Aspire V5-122P is bought on 12/16/2013 and I updated it to Win10 on september 2015 without any problems. Now, on Oct 10 2016 Windows installed an update KB3150513 and after that my laptop came very slow. I noticed that the bios should be upgraded (from v.1.04) to v. 1.12, which I did, but it is still very slow. On poweron it takes 5-10 minutes to get the signin, and from that 10-15 minutes to get ready. The mouse disappears often and returns after minutes.

Then I tried to remove that update KB3150513, which went ok, and the system has now more stabil while signed in, but from poweron it still takes 5-10 minutes to get the signin screen.

    Any help is welcome!

I had somewhat similar problems with my V5-122P in October when Microsoft pushed some kind of Windows 10 update while I was traveling.  It essentially bricked my machine, although the Microsoft Store was able to bring it back.  However, they had problems and now the machine seems to have times when it wants to lock up for a while.  At the moment it is working, but I'm on the verge of recycling the machine because of reliability concerns now.  It was fine before the Windows 10 update (I was already running Windows 10).

Don't let your v5-122P upgrade to the W10 anniversary update.

While the updrade to W10 and subesquent updates worked with the W8.0 and W8.1 drivers currently available, those will not work for the W10 anniversary update.

And, if you proceed with the W10 anniversary update, your computer will slow down to a snail's pace, typically with cpu usage at over 99%.

Microsoft level 2 technicians advise that that they have no/no solution to the absence of W10 drivers for this computer.

Acer/AnswerBy technicians have not/not any solution either. At least if my experience sitting by this computer with them on and off the telephone over the last six days is anything on which to base a judgement.

    Hello!

Don't give up! I'm sorry I have not replied earlier to this chain due to my bad memory, but now I can tell you all, that my problems with my laptop has all gone! It was a tree week struggle and I can not remember all steps I have done, but these are the main steps:

After removing KB3150513 and trying to update some drivers I decided to reinstall Win10 from scratch with the help you can find from ms site (use google). The program I downloaded created a bootable usb stick and then I rebooted from it. That installation went ok, but there was still some slowness left. Then I started to get blue screen crashes with error message "Thread stuck in device driver". I found a hint that this is caused by AMD's sound card and after I removed this device (do remove only sound for HDMI, not the whole graphig card) the laptop started to be pretty stable. Some days later I got this Thread stuck error again, and then I found a hint that AMD's graphic card does not work with the newest version of the driver (of 2016), and I replaced it with version 2015. Since that the laptop has worked without problems and the slowness has gone (hopefully for ever)!

Thankyou.  I will have a go.

Could you please provide a link to the version you downloaded?

I did not download, I just updated it to the previous version. Well, now I'm little bid surpriced, I just looked my V5 control panel, and it's graphics adapter properties shows that it is Microsoft basic adapter, date 21.6.2006 and version 10.0.14393.0. (I'm not sure if I use correct english names but hope You get this).

This is obviously litte bid confusing, I have in my desktop pc also AMD (ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series) graphics adapter, and it has currently driver version dated 13.1.2015, version 8.970.100.9001. During Win10 update this adapter missed overscan availability, and so I had to reload also here the previous version of driver.

In V-5 I disabled device AMD High Definition Audio Device in group Sound-, video- and game controllers.
