Hi,

I'm having a problem on my acer v5-471g which is currently running in windows 8.1.

I only see a black screen with a moveable mouse cursor, it doen't go thru the windows login.
I tried doing f2 for bios or alt + f10 but not working.

Thanks.

    try this:
if you have a windows 8.1 bootable installation or recovery media, boot from it, pressing F12 at boot and choose USB or DVD (depends on your media) then:
    click on repair my computer
    Click on Troubleshoot.
    Click on Advanced Options.
    Click on Startup Settings.
    Click on Restart.
The PC will now reboot to the Startup Settings screen.
Press 4 to Enable Safe Mode as prompted.

once in Safe mode, go to Device manager, click on Display adapters, right click on your VGA and choose uninstall.

reboot normally and check if black/blank screen is fixed.

if you don't have installation or recovery media, download windows 8.1 media from microsoft:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

if it asks for a product key, your OEM key will not work, so download this:

    windows 8.1 enterprise trial edition:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-8-1-enterprise

I don't have any windows 8.1 bootable installation. it was originally from windows 8 to 8.1.

I can't even go to boot menu, I dunno if the f12 is not working.

so download a bootable media and check if F12 works or hope that DVD is the first bootable device.
