Why doesn't Acer sell things they expect to be bricks in less than 2 years?

Wasn't sure where to post this since it effects all buyers, but I chose here because the 3 laptops I've bought are all V series.

I like keeping good records and I have a file with all my purchase info in it but I can't include a link to one of my products because Acer doesn't keep links active long. There is no reason that they can't keep a static page up when the URL is a model number... it isn't like they needs that URL for another model.

Works fine:

Acer assumes your laptop no longer matters:

Considering how little documentation they provide on upgrading their systems to SSD, etc... maybe I should go with another company anyway.

The page you are refering to is a sales page. The first link is a model still available for sale. The second link is a laptop no longer available.

That's like saying, why doesn't Chevy still have sales literature on 57 Chevys.

Is upgrade to SSD and max memory what you want to do? Give me a model number.

I appreciate the pcworld link but I shouldn't have to rely on a third party for information about my equipment. If I link to that review for info in my records I won't be surprised to find it a broken URL in time beause they have no responsibility to me and can move things around whenever they like.

While you are correct that the example I gave is a sales page, its the closest I could find to a static link go use for information. It would be nice if they go to the trouble to make the pages with all the information you need to decide whether to buy or not.... if they kept that page available after you get suckered in.

I appreciate your offer of help but I actually took my chances and bought the laptops and made due with what I got. The information I find lacking pre purchase is whether the laptops have spare bays, etc. The V3 has 2 nice side by side 2.5" bays that are exactly what I like. The V7, however, has a m.2 slot (understandable since it is a smaller unit and needs to make accomodations) but provided no information on it. In today's world a LOT of people plan to upgrade to SSD so it would be nice for them to stop pumping out 100 different models that all differ and have little in common.

Sorry, I was venting when I Posted. Since their is no actual solution to my question (other than Acer to step up their availability of information) I will accept your response as a solution. It did after all offer more than Acer does by way of specifications.

We're working to improve this area, and while we're not calling these specs out by PN yet, improvements should continue to happen. I'm not sure if you've looked at registering the Serial Numbers on http://account.acer.com but this may also help you keep track of your products, get quick links to drivers and other points of interest.
