Uninstalling the driver and rebooting provides a temporary fix, but soon after the delete key stops working again. This issue is not program specific and can happen in almost any program I am working in including browsers.  Any permanant fixes out there?

    BPotter,

I am guessing that you are removing the keyboard driver and letting it install again? If this just randomly starting happening, it could be that an update caused it to start. Did you trying performing a system restore to when the issue did not occur and see if that solved it?

yes, that has been my fix in the past.  I have not tried to restore the system to an earlier time when this did not happen.

Would you still attempt that fix if the delete key is intermittently working?  For instance, I can be working on a document or drawing for an hour and during that hour the delete key works about half the time and does not work the other half.  In other words, it will turn on and off during the hour without any intervention to the drivers or their unloading/reloading.

    BPotter,

It could be a corrupt file (system restore), it could be a defective keyboard, or it could be a defective motherboard. I would like to see if it is just a bad file, the other options will require hardware to get replaced.
