Hi All,

So I just purchased (awaiting shipment) a VN7-791G-76GA from QVC. Doing some googling, I see some reviews say it has a SSD and a hard drive, others say just a hard drive. So is the SSD an option? It's item E284180 on QVC - I see no mention of SSD. So if it doesn't have one, can I just order a m.2 SSD and plug and play? Any size?

Thanks!

    Hello,

This model is only equipped with a HDD of 2Tb. You can install a M.2-2280 SSD (22mm x 80mm). The original size is from 64 to 256Gb.

    Here are the original SSDs:

Cool, thanks. I see a few on Amazon for 256GB for $99.. So I should be able to boot to like a Drive cloning software, and clone the 2 TB drive to the 256GB SSD, right? (Yes, I realize the drive is smaller, but since there isn't likely more than 256 gb of data on it... Is this feasable? Any suggestions on cloning apps? Can't wait to get this laptop! Smiley Happy

    honestly?

Since it's a new laptop, i would create the Acer recovery media (have an USB flash drive bigger than 16GB, 32GB is better)

    take off the HDD

    put the M.2 SSD

    boot from the recovery media

    install on the M.2 SSD

once you are sure the SSD worked like it was factory installed (with also the recovery partition created from recovery media), i would wipe/format the HDD and put it on your laptop.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
