Hi!

After a crash, my Aspire V5-473 had lots of bad sectors on the harddrive resulting in a severely damaged NTFS filesystem on the C: drive which Windows isn't able to repair anymore.

So I bough an SSD to replace the faulty HDD, copied all partitions (EFI, recovery etc.) from the old HDD to the new SSD using gparted except the damaged Windows partition (CSmiley Happy. Instead, I created a new NTFS partition in place and formatted it.

Now when I try to boot the system, Windows complains about missing files (Error code 0xc0000225, file \Windows\system32\winload.efi is missing). Of course this file isn't there, because the Windows partition is totally empty.

My question now is: How can I boot directly into the Acer recovery system to re-create the factory state on the now empty Windows partition? Pressing Alt-F10 during boot did not work. Since my laptop did not come with a Windows 8 installation media I see no other way to get Windows back.

Thanks for you help,

Tom
