Good day,

I am trying to configure the laptop so that everytime it powers up, or comes back from sleep, the backlit keyboard is off.

current behavior is always on and I have to manually press Fn + F9

i could not find any settings in the Bios to do so?

my laptop is VN7-571G-7309 (Aspite V15 Nitro)

Really? not a single thought from anyone? not even Acer support?

I'm baffled to say the least!!!

the only reason I ended with this devise is because the shop I deal with ran out of HP. I should have waited.

this is not the first thing Acer fails on with this machine.

My last support session was very unproductive and I ended up paying $ 150 for a fresh windows 10 installation since the one that was originally there got corrupted due to Acer backup software.

Try the search button, it has been discussed already but no resonable solution was found.

To make it on/off by default you need a change in the bios.

Though I think it could be possible to write a tiny program which could simulate pressing Fn+F9 at the system startup, given that we have the scan code for the keys. But the Fn is not a typical key and it probably uses the ACPI standard.
