Intel Extreme Tuning Utility full load.png

I have Acer Aspire VN7-791G-71P5 with Intel Core i7-4710HQ and Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M. CPU is limited to 47 W, shown above in Intel Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU), and I want some way to exceed it. I tried XTU to change turbo power limit and ThrottleStop to change the package power limit but they did not work.

You would have better luck if you go to some of the overclockers forums.

    Hi,

I think the limit is in place by the manufacturer (not Intel) with the BIOS settings. And I don't think you can change this.

The main reason why this limit is in place (I believe) is because your power supply has also a limited output (I think 7.2 A) and if this would we an unlocked option, you could end up with the power supply not being able to provide you enough power for your notebook.

7.2 A means around 140 W and at full power your computer uses very close to this value.
