How To Get 1920 x 1080 Resolution - V5-573PG

I'm setting up a new V5-573PG-7400 purportedly with a full HD touchscreen, 1920 x 1080.

If I right click on empty area of desktop, and select Graphics Options or Screen Resolutiion, I

see no way to increase resolution beyond 1366 x 768.  Intel driver installed is a match to

that listed on the Acer website for the V5-573PG running Windows 8.1.   Checked for

newer driver at Intel web site (ran their automated detection utility).   Intel reported

a special driver by the OEM was installed and could not be updated.

Is there an Acer/Intel driver that allows 1920 x 1080 screen resolution for this laptop?

on windows 8.1 control panel, did you have the intel graphic program?

check if fullHD resolution is available on Intel graphic settings.

Thanks for the reply, IronFlly.   The same graphics program is there as it is when right-cllicking

on desktop and selecting graphics properties OR resolution.   There is a limited range of resolution

adjustments which will give one 720p or slightly better, but no choices in the desired range

of 1920 x 1080.  It looks like we're missing a driver capable of handling a screen larger than

    1366 x 768.

Ok, i would try to uninstall Acer drivers, uninstall VGA from the device manager and install drivers downloaded from the intel website.

Thanks again, IronFly.   Did that, but no improvement.   Went online chat with an Acer support rep.

last night.   He was quite helpful, nonetheless.    He sent me a link to a newer  BIOS, so that's

been updated from v2.28 to v2.29.  And, as you suggested, he sent link to the "latest" Intel VGA/Graphics

driver and that was installed.  As it turns out, that driver is the same as what was on the laptop

and is the one listed on the website, v10.18.10.3496.

So, we're still stuck with max. resolution selectable on the Intel Graphics Driver at 1366 x 768, and no

higher.  Again, this a V5-573PG-7400 with advertised screen resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Could it be a mistake was made during manufacture?    NO!  Periish the thought.   We'll keep looking.  Smiley Happy

right click on desktop, screen resolution, advanced settings.

on next windows choose monitor tab, does the option "hide modes that this monitor cannot display" greyed?

if it's available, tick it and then check if an higher resolution is available.

    Again thanks, IronFly. But alas:
    . . . Advance Settings, Monitor Tab . . . as you suggested, brings
up a windoow for the "Generic PnP Monitor". The box next to
"Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" is unchecked AND
one cannot check it ('is greyed out'). Text says, "Clearing this
check box allows you to select display modes that this monitor
    cannot display correctly."

So, the status is that there may be modes that are selectable
but not correctly displayable. However the resolution selected
is the maximum selectable currently, 1366 x 768. Therefore all
is well with this driver-screen combo at current setting, but
either the driver or the screen (monitor) is not adequate for
    full HD display at 1920 x 1080.

Hopefully, an Acer tech. knowledgeable with the V5-573PG-7400
will jump in here soon. Meanwhile, I will try another online
    chat session . . .

    Ok.
In my opinion this can be narrowed to:
    Bad generic pnp monitor driver
    Hardware doesn't match specs

    Try a last thing:
On device manager, right click on the monitor and choose uninstall.
    Reboot ans check available resolutions.

Good thought. Did the above. Apparently on reboot it found "New
Hardware" (as older Windows used to advise -- 8.1 said nothing) and
came up normally. Available resolutions remain the same, 1366 x 768 max.

Acer online "chatted" again today to no avail. I asked to elevate
tech level, and have phone number to try "Level 2" support on
Monday. <sigh> As you said . . . driver issue OR hardware doesn't
match specs. Will comment here on any findings.

(BTW, also tried a GPU test/benchmark program. It found the Nvidia
850m just fine, but it also could not set resolution any higher than
    1280 x 720.)

after googling a bit, i wouldn't be surprised if it's a bad LCD cable that causes this issue.

The above is correct.  That matches the first half of my serial number reported by

the Acer Information utility AND is as per product description on sales web site

    for the V5-573PG-7400.

This is for IronFly. Thanks so much for your attempt to help with our
problem. Sadly, I am returning this otherwise "delightful" Aspire
V5-573PG-7400.  Acer Tier 2 tech confirms that during pre-production
setup, the 1920 x 1080 IPS touchscreen was eliminated from this model.

The problem arose by the store's database not being updated....whatever.
This model is not available with the specs still published on the
web site. And there is no comparable model at the sale price  I
paid, $765. It WAS a good deal, or appeared to be so.

Thanks again for your attempts to help, IronFly.  My next consideraton
    is for the Asus N550JK-DS71T.
