My Acer Aspire V5-431 won't boot and doesn't display anything on the internal or external display when powered on,  I think the BIOS is corrupted and need to know how to restore it so that I can reinstall windows.

Unplug the external display and anything else and try it. Remove the power and battery, hold the power button down for 60 seconds, plug in and try.

I have tried that but it doesn't do anything, it just turns on and shows a black screen.

If it is a corrupted bios, unfortunately you have a Insyde 2.0 bios which is a Insyde/Phoenix hybrid bios and there is no way to find the bios file to do a bios recovery. If it is still in warranty, book it in for repair or contact Acer.

If not in warranty, it will need the motherboard replaced.

Do your Keyboard lights come on?
    Does your fan run?

Please click YES if I answered your question
