Hello,

I have a Acer V nitro and a problem when i play games like LOL or World Of Warcraft.

I'm in ultra, no problem about fps and the game is fluid, but the problem is that sometimes, my screen freeze for like 3sec each 5min. Hard to play with that when you need to react immediatly and you screen freeze ..

Did someone have an issue ?

Thanks and good evening Smiley Happy

    Hi,

    What's the notebook mode?

What's the video driver versions? (intel and Nvidia).

    Did you try different drivers?

Did you monitor the temperatures? Did the freeze somehow matches thermal throttling of the CPU/GPU?

    Hi,

There are plenty of notebooks which are V15 nitro. It is a 591G or a 592G? or something else?

I would try to use the official drivers from Nvidia and from intel, to see if it helps.

    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/88345/Intel-HD-Graphics-530-for-6th-Generation-Intel-Core-Processors

If they don't help you can always roll back to the other drivers.

    Hi,

Well do you have a HDD and an SSD? And do you have the games on the HDD?

The freeze can be because of the agresive setting of the HDD power management which I think is set by default to 80 (Spindown after 30 seconds of inactivity). The number 80 is in decimal, in hexadecimal is different value.

Thus when the game wants to access for example a texture file, it needs to spinup the hdd which causes the freeze.

You can use crystal disk info and in the software in Function --> advanced features --> AAM/APM control, you should set explicitly the HDD to 80h (hexadecimal value or higher) for the APM. Probably this could solve the issue.

This setting is reseted each time after a restart/sleep.

You can give a try and see how it will work. This will tell you for sure if the issue is what I have told you above.

Yes, 80h is the equivalent of 128. So it's the correct setting. You can try to see how it will work the game with this setting. or you can drag the APM bar all the way to the right which will disable the APM. And yes, you will need to do this after each restart/shutdown/standby. Because windows will reset this setting afterwards. There are some scripts which can do this at startup you can look them on the internet. They are based on hdparam.
