Ray257,
These are the CPUs that we have tested on these units, A4-1200, A4-1250, & A6-1450; looking at the documentation it looks like they might be the limitation as well.

Hi I've had a brand new Aspire v5 122p-0408 for a few months now and have done nothing with it because performance was horrible. It is extremely slow, programs took a very long time to open and sometimes did not open at all. This is a brand new computer mind you.
I did a factory reset and although it heIped slightly, it was still performing very bad. I deleted Mcafee immediately and that helped also. I looked at the CPU performance how it was functioning and it was always running at about 90%-98% even when sitting idle. I watched a video of a person doing a review on this computer and it showed that 3.44g out of the 4g (DDR3) was unusable.
So my questions:
1. I would like to upgrade the DDR3 to 8gb. According to crucial.com there are compatible ones. Is it even possible to do this on this laptop?
2. If possible, is there a slot where the board just snaps in, and does it replace the 4gb already installed? Or does it need to be soldered in?
3. Would it improve the speed of everything and make a big difference, or are there other areas I need that are more important to improving first that will increase the speed?
4. Is it even worth upgrading anything on this computer?

roman89,
According to the documentation this notebook is upgradable to 6 GB of dual-channel DDR3 system memory using a single 4 GB soDIMM module. It will certainly help the system, but I am not sure how exactly you are trying to use this system. The parts in these models are designed to use low voltage for long battery life, they are not meant for high performance.
