Acer Aspire V3-771G-6814 numeric keypad issue

I have been having an issue over the past few weeks with random keys not working on my numeric keypad - the top row numbers all work fine. I have tried the number lock solution by enabling the on-screen keyboard and switching the number lock on that way - this solution worked a few times but not any more.

I have also tried the mouse keys solution but that wasn't the issue - the keypad wasn't just performing up/down/left/right. At present numbers 1,2,5 and 6 don't respond. I have removed the actual keys to make sure there is no debris underneath that is preventing the keys from making contact and everything is clear.

I'm getting super-frustrated as I use the keypad a lot. The laptop is only 2 years old and I don't really want to start paying for costly repairs on it. I have seen people mentioning possible driver updates but I couldn't see anything to download that pertained to keyboard functions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Dingo,

Have you thought about just replacing the entire keyboard itself, if that is in your realm of expertise. It could just be that the keyboard keys have received their fair share of wear if you use it very often.

Thank you! I was wondering if that might be the problem but I wanted to exhaust any programming fixes first. As nobody else seems to have any solutions it seems that this will be my next step.

I haven't pulled the Acer apart before but I have done minor repairs on previous laptops so hopefully it won't be too difficult. Cat Very Happy
