I am trying to repair my son's mother in laws laptop. She said it got infected with ransomware and can't log on to windows. Since I couldn't get past the log on screen, I installed a new hard drive and ordered the recovery media from ACER. All I get is a screen that says "NO BOOTABLE DEVICES FOUND." I also need to add that this is the second hard drive. So, I either need some help getting the new hard drive to boot or a way to erase the old hard drive so I can reinstall windows 8. I hope somebody can help me.

ASPIRE V3 731-4473

INTEL B960 2.2 GHz

6 GB DDR3 RAM

500 GB HARD DRIVE.

you get the "no bootable" even with the recovery media?

    it's USB or DVD?

It will not boot from the cd. I've tried F10, F2 and any other F I could think of.

I forgot to mention that F2 brought up a box for a password.

so your BIOS is locked if it's asking for a password...

i would suggest you to take your laptop to a computer repair shop and have the BIOS cleared.

Well, I appreciate your time. I'm not trying to make money off of this. These people are on disability and I'm just trying to help them out. I'm already into this thing for a hard drive plus the software so I've spent enough.
