acer s7 problem

hello! i have an acer s7 391 and i have the following problem. when i enter the app menu, or when i try for example to attach a file to an e.mail in the mail app, the screen is gradualy starting to look bad, the contrast and the colours change,  and it looks weird. when i swich back to start, or desktop, the screen is starting to look good again, gradually. like in 5-10 seconds.

The problem is that i noticed that this problem is NOT happening when the computer is charging. this only happenes when it is on battery. i allready checked for settings, there is no problem there. the settings from plugged/unplugged are the same, but with no effect.

the service allready changed my display. can the problem be the mainboard or the videocard? or what could it be? does anyone noticed this problem with his laptop? thanks!!

Re: acer s7 problem

Hi there,

The screen dimming is the power saaving mode doing its work to lower the screen brightness. You can choose the balanced power plan to make the screen to not dim. You can also adjust this in the Intel Graphics and Media control Panel.

Re: acer s7 problem

i made sure the power management settings from " on battery" and " plugged in" are EXACTLY the same. This is not a software problem, because not only the problem appears only when i am on battery, but when i am using an exernal display, the problem it's not noticeable on the external display, but it exists on the laptop's display!

Re: acer s7 problem

This is not directly connected to the original posters problem but the S7 features an auto-dim NOT related to power management but related to the ambient light sensor. Where is the control to disable the ambient light sensor? The power management settings ONLY provide an offset that is applied in addition to the ambient light sensor.

Re: acer s7 problem

If you go to device manager, theres a light sensor tab.  Click on driver details and look at the path to those files.  Should be ..\system32 etc.  Since you can't uninstall this, what I did was renamed those files to disable the light sensor.  Not sure if there's an easier way though.
