Can anyone help me understand why my new 64-bit machine won't run my 64-bit software?

    Hi jwilk

Can you be a little more specific? Which programs aren't running/what errors are you getting?

Or do you mean that your 64 bit programs are residing in the "Program Files (x86)" folder?

Sometimes a 64 bit program, may use files/DLL's/drivers  that are 32 bit only - so Windows stores them there. Other programs that are 100% 64 bit will store them in the "Program Files" folder. Likewise with 32 bit only programs - they are stored in the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
