My V5-573G which came with W8.1 and Realtek Audio 6.0.1.7027 lost the Dolby Digital Plus after installing audio update 6.0.1.7032 from Acer's site.
The DolbyDigitalPlusHT.msi package is present in C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek\Audio\DS1 but trying to install it fails. The process starts, but after a while rolls back with te message that there was an error.
Reinstalling the originally present version 7027 also fails to put back the Dolby package ...
Now what? Does anyone recognize this? Or better, found a solution? (other than a complete factory reset)

I saw someone posted a way to install just the Dolby part of the driver on http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/dr
You could also try downloading a different version of the driver to see if that helps.

Thanks for your reaction Clyde, but install of only the Dolby part results in rollback and this screen:
And as far as I can see, the 2 versions I tried are the only ones available for W 8.1
