Just received my S7 391 back from service with a replacement HDD due to disk failure (thank you Acer-Blayn for your assistance).   It was returned with Windows 8 preloaded, and I'd like to run the update to 8.1.  Acer's Win 8.1 upgrade flow indicates that the BIOS should be updated (along with other items) prior to the upgrade, but with all the many recent lamentings posted regarding the most current BIOS offering, I don't want to tempt fate.   Is it OK to upgrade to Win 8.1 without doing the latest BIOS update?  

Has there been word about a fix to the problem?

Hi, Pamalaf. I think you just need to install Windows update KB2871389, THEN you will find you can upgrade to win8.1 in app store.

Plus, the latest BIOS update v-2.18 seems borned have something wrong and cannot be applied.
