Model# M5-581TG
Here's the problem. When I unplug my laptop from a power source it shuts down. Simple as that. Plugged in, my laptop works fine. Sometimes it has problems turning on if I move it to another room but if I leave it plugged in for a little bit it will eventually turn on. To me this sounds like a simple battery that's gone bad, but apparently this cannot be a simple fix because:
My first problem is that on this model the battery seems to be inside the chasis. Laptop batteries eventually fail and MOST of the time you can remove and replace them very easily, but not on this model. I don't see how to remove the old battery or where I can even buy a new one. Internet searches reveal nothing.
My second problem is that since I'm out of warranty Acer has basically given me the middle finger. I can't send it in for repairs. Hell, I'm apparently not even allowed to use their chat or phone support. Are you frickin kidding me?
I'm all for fixing it myself or paying for it to be fixed but I'm finding zero help on Acer's website or online searches.
I have searched for acers tech support phone number but since according to their website I'm not allowed to use it I thought I might as well give their forums a chance before I go down that road.
So has anyone else run into a similar problem or have any suggestions? Maybe it's not a battery issue. It certainly sounds like it, but maybe it's not. Anyone have suggestions? Maybe someone from Acer perhaps??

HI..
The Aspire M5-582PT may not power on using battery power if the memory compartment door is not closed properly. The internal battery is equipped with a safety feature to cut the power if the memory compartment door is opened.

OK, at least that gives me something specific to look for. I'll give that a shot. Thanks.
