NOTE: Done on an expresscache only SSD. I don't believe using the -format command will mess up the rapid start partition because there is no input option for [drive id] and [part size] as there is with the -partition command. HOWEVER, I don't want someone to do this and have to restart the whole process. If you know for a fact that it won't cause problems with rapid start, please say so below.
If you're getting "HFS Volume is not mounted" when you input "ECCMD -info," simply use:
ECCMD -Format
Follow it up with
ECCMD -info
and the partition should be mounted.

A very interesting topic. MuadDib, thank you very much for sharing this valuable information with us!
The original post of MuadDib is now almost a year old. When searching for ExpressCache I found multiple newer versions. The newest I found is 1.3.1. Available through the forums of SanDisk. Does anyone here have experience with ExpressCache versions above the one that MuadDib is using? (1.0.94)
@Halfbit
Very interesting what you did. But what is wrong with ExpressCache? A speed comparison with both Intel Smart Response Technology and ExpressCache would be really nice, but a lot of work. But there must be a reason why Acer payed for ExpressCache instead of using the free Intel software. And other manufacters are also using ExpressCache. And the other thing is that if you have windows installed with AHCI, you have to re-install it with bios on raid for your method to work. But I would love to see more results of your method. I appreciate the good work!

Can you share a screenshot of Disk Management to see the size of the original partitions?
Thanks

Good morning!
I formatted my Acer M5 and installed windows 7.
I managed to set my SSD as a cache but I can not use Intel Smart.
When I type in cmd "ECCmd -info" says the cache is working.
But the BIOS does not have RAID and also the Accelerate button does not appear in the intel software.
What can I do?
I have to create a partition for Intel Smart?

I got the same here. I can't change the sata to RAID. Only ACHI or IDE were available.
Another issue is taht I can't start the boot from dvd drive. Even if I choose this on bios. I've already enabled the option to choose the boot, but again, only shows the windows boot partition. How can I change this?
Sorry for my poor English.

Hello, works perfectly. Completely clear!!!
I've only registered just to say THANKS! And give KUDO. I don't know whats it means buy anyway, seems good thing.
I want to tell my experience.
When I was doing the last step. -STEP 16
16.) type "ECCmd -partition X YYYYY" (X is the drive ID and YYYYY is the partition size you wish to create for ExpressCache. In other words, replace X with the drive ID from step 2 and YYYYY with the free space from step 13)
After creating hibernation partition in my SDD, there where 12,78 GB Available (13087 MB).
I wrote "ECCmd -partition 1 13087
And shown me an error: **ERRORR** ECCmd exited with error 0x18 (24) or 0x24 (18). Sorry i don't remember exactly.
I googled it buy i didn't find much. So I tried reducing the total memory to 13085 and WORKED PERFECTLY.
To make sure of that i wrote "ECCmd -info" and i colud see its was workinf fine. ec cache info tiered cache stats were OK.
AGAIN THANKS SO MUCH
"ECCmd -info"

This post is great to have. I think I found an alternative method, too, which I'm running at the moment: the Acer Upgrade Assistant Tool. It specifically supports upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (from there you can use Windows Update to get to 8.1). You'll need a Windows 8 install media and key (8.1 install media didn't work). Since I didn't have the install media, but I had a Windows 8 key, I followed this article's instructions to run a Microsoft tool that allows you to download/build an ISO or USB flash-drive install media.

Download link provided in the post for expresscache is not valid anymore. Can someone post a new link to download the expresscache.
I have a Acer V7-582P and have lost the recovery disk. I recently installed Win 8.1 but not able to ensure that my SSD caching is working. Need a solution. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,
I see that many of you are searching for the expresscache software. I, myself found it on my C drive (main drive) in the HIDDEN folder called OEM. If you look into this folder you can find the Acer expresscache software back.
In this link u will also be able to download the expresscache for acer specifically, the version is 1.0.100.
The nice thing about this one is that you just install and done, you don't have to do anything specific as it is made for Acer laptops. At least that is how it goes with me.
I have tried to get reach of the newer versions of expresscache but wasnt able to install because they were vendor-specific ![]()
