Last night I went and did an exchange for my previous Aspire laptop at best buy which was deemed unfixable by the Geek Squad Tech Center (the dc jack was loose and they couldn't fix it) and I got the latest Aspire M5-582PT. My GSP policy would allow me to get the next Aspire Ultra Thin notebook. However, this one does not have a CD/DVD Drive. I didn't realize it until now because last night the Geek Squad Salesman told me that this Laptop was the same as my last one but "Better" with Touch Screen.
When I got home last night, I read on the side of the box the Optical Drive was "N/A". I didn't think much of it since I felt it could have been a typo or maybe that information just wasn't avaible and that it was a given that Computers come with CD/DVD Drives. Well this morning after I tried and failed to find a CD/DVD Drive I have contemplated taking back my Aspire.
Due to the likelihood that Best Buy would deny my return/exchange, I have looked into external CD/DVD Drives for my Aspire M5-582PT. I was wondering if anyone has used an external CD/DVD Drive for their Aspire M Series Laptops and/or can Reccommend some External Optical Drives for my laptop? IMO, CD/DVD Drives still have much use. I have a lot of CD's to burn, DVD's I watch, Games I install and play as well as Software I use.

Your advise was interesting!
I have what looks like the same one you showed in your photos except mine is Pinkish/Red? Bought on Ebay!
ODP 1201 ODD/HDD
Laser KLSSE1
The only problem is my S7-191 6447 Ultrabook will not recognize it?
I have a post about it.
If you could advise me about a driver or the best way to get my Ultrabook to recognize this externa devise,
I would appreciate it.
Thanks
