Hello,
I just unboxed my Aspire S7 and within an hour am experiencing some pretty distressing issues. I got it out, plugged into AC power and connected to the wireless, then got to installing Chrome and getting some things set up. Then, I got a notification that a BIOS update was available, so I allowed it to proceed. It shut off after seemingly making the update. It did not start back up (which I thought was peculiar). So I pushed the power button and.... nothing, except for the blue light (marked with a light bulb) turning on or off depending on whether it was on or off when I pushed the power button. Tried holding the power button for 30 seconds, didn't work. Tried resetting with the battery pin-hole, no dice. I've literally had this computer in my possession for less than 2 hours and used it a grand total of once. Hoping it's not a lemon. Any help would be appreciated!!!

I am having the exact same issue. If I find an answer, I will post it...

You may try to reset the battery and try again to turn on your power. By the way, what is the version of BIOS you updated?

Honestly don't know the BIOS version. I expected there would be some updates for an out-of-the-box computer and didn't take note. I've tried the battery reset pin-hole to no avail. There doesn't seem to be any documentation of any others experiencing this particular problem. Most of the BIOS issues at least get to the point of displaying a logo before the screen goes dark, mine doesn't even get there. The computer seems to operate, it almost feels like the display is simply offline.

I am having similar problems.
From Day 1.
If I close the lid of the computer, the screen will nto come back on no matter what I do. Blue light is there but no screen.
The only way to get it back on is to hold power button for 10 seconds so blue light goes off and then batter reset. But even then the issue is not solved.
When I turn it on, the computer will reboot but then either: 1. windows immediately crashes, says it needs to restart and then again no screen or 2. windows does not immediately crash, screen stays on, but keyboard and mouse fail to work.
After hours on phone with tech support and, at their advice, reinstalling windows which they assured me would fix the problem, it started happening again almost right away.
So from Day 1 a non-functioning computer that they now diagnose as "hardware related issues" but are not willing to replace. They insist thay I ship it for repair, which will take approximately 2 weeks before I get something back. And based on other reviews I have read, people have gotten their computers back in still non-working order...so this does not seem like an acceptable solution to me.
Initially I would have been happy to receive a replacement, which ACER insists they will not do. Now I will try to get a refund and will absolutely not buy ACER again.
