I finally returned the Acer S7 yesterday and got a Lenovo Yoga instead. I had this Acer laptop for over 2 months, and the wireless never worked right. Now I have a much nicer keyboard, the wireless works flawlessely and I got a refund on the price difference. I'm just lucky that the Microsoft Store has amazing custormer service. I hope for the rest of you that Acer figures up what's wrong and fixes it.
Where is Acer customer service??

WIFI driver 234 seems to work much better than prior versions. I have no problem connecting to some selective hotspots than previously required an add-on USB dongle WIFI with Windows 8. I have not determined if the dropped connection problem is resolved.

I installed the new driver. Before the update, I cannot get to a single web page before being disconnected. After the update, I actually can browse 2 pages, before I get disconnected.
Still a long way to go for me...
(btw, I uninstall the old driver, and install the new one)

Acer - I can finally say that 5 months after buying this laptop it finally works for me with the .234 drivers.
Thank you for fixing it. Still stinks that it took 5+ months..

@tmk
Where did you find the .234 driver? I cannot find it on the Acer site and .218 is still being offered via the live update utility. Is it a combined Bluetooth/wlan driver or just for the wifi? In the former case, does the Bluetooth work, too?
Acer, if this is the real fix, please put it out on the update utility.

I've been using the new (.234) drivers for three days now, on three different WiFi networks. So far no problems. My network does not drop anymore and gets reconnected after sleep (although not really fast). I can reccomend updating to the new drivers.
Still, shame on you Acer (explore beyond limits), for not communicating with your customers.
EDIT: Thanks Daniel_rh for finding the drivers by the way. Apparently it takes a customer to inform the customers.
EDIT 2: Somehow my Bluetooth stopped working. Its shown in device manager as "unknown device" but it won't install the driver. On top of that, I hooked up another mouse (because I use a bluetooth mouse) and that one wont install either. I'm getting very frustrated because Windows usually always works with everything and Acer messed up the whole system.

Wifi seems to work with the new (.234) driver: no more drops since install. But after install Bluetooth doesn't work anymore. I have tested two different bluetooth mice, none of them could be connected.
I'm using notebooks of different manufacturers (IBM, Dell, HP, ...) since 20 years, and I never had such problems with one of them. This is my first acer notebook. I have bought it in November 2012.
- For 5 month I could only use wlan with a wifi usb stick. An ultrabook without wlan, that's a joke.
- After 2 month the s7 was in repair because one of the SSDs had a defect (but the repair was very fast, only one week).
- And now the wlan is working, but Bluetooth not.
Sorry, but that's enough: Never ever acer!!!
