I mostly use my S7 191 running Windows 8 with an external monitor connected via HDMI and external keyboard+mouse. When finished working with the computer I can shut it down or hibernate via windows software functionality but in order to turn the ultrabook back on I have to reach and open the lid. Thing is that I was specifically looking for the ultrabook with power button outside so I can keep lid closed most of the time when I’m at home using external monitor.
Is there a way to enable power button when the lid is closed and notebook is switched off to switch it on without opening a lid? It would be great to place it behind the monitor and only reach for the power button instead of opening the lid each time in order to turn on the machine.

I have been informed that this is a design consideration and that there is no way to power the system while the lid is closed.

There is no way to disable that functionality.
