I was given Aspire S3 with what seemed to be a failing 500GB hard drive.
I replaced it with a Seagate 320GB hard drive. Then Reloaded Windows 7 and
all the drivers including Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
I've run chkdsk on 320GB hard drive and it's fine.
However IRST seems to be flagging the 20GB SSD that comes with the S3.
Does the 20GB SSD need to be replaced? Or reset/rebuild?

My guess would be that you need to perform a rebuild as you probably have a metadata mismatch due to not replacing like for like re the HDD.

I dont see any rebuild option that is available in Intel Rapid Storage Technology prog.
I cant get into my bios setup cuz it requires a password that I dont have. Yet.
The Aspire S3 has a 20GB SSD that is only used as a hibernation partition for saving memory to disk to enable quick resumes, not for booting or loading applications. All the action, including the bootup, occurs on the mechanical 320GB, 5,400-rpm hard drive.
So, am just going to disable the startup entry for IRST for right now until I can erase bios password and see whats
there that might have a bearing.
Thanks anyway Alan-Landon.

Folks,
I have a big problem with this SSD.
My Ultrabook is an S3-951-6871 - I´m using Windows 8.1 Pro in Portuguese Version.
In my case, the SSD 20GB desapeared!
If I try install the intel driver, but the notebook crash and not start anymore.
Look the windows disk manager image.
I had problems with regular HD (Fail and I´ve changed) )and with the battery too (is DEAD).
If you can help, I appreciate!
