Re: Acer Aspire v5-552G-x414 freezing

:smileyfrustrated: I spoke too sone! Later after a few hours it froze again even with the newer updated version of the driver that ended in the number 15. I asked it to update the newer driver & it actually updated it back to the older version which it's version number ended in 16. I thought that maybe since I had upgraded the machine to 8.1 that maybe the older driver would work now, but it didn't. I'm gonna visit our motherboard's manufacture's website in hopes that they've upgraded the ethernet driver. Maybe it's only available there, which I've seen be the case before in other laptop driver issues. **bleep** this really suck...just so you know Acer....grrr. You're REALLY making me work my little tech fanny off today & earn my keep around my little repair shop, lol! Sometimes laptops companies put the blame of problems like this one right back into the hands of it's maker & make it their problem to fix, and this may very well be the case in our perdiciment guys. I'll check & get back with you all, but 1st I'm gonna try the Acer site one more time to review ALL the available drivers & see if they don't have a Bio's update, or a newer version of mainboard Chipset...that may very well be the fix too.:smileyhappy:

Re: Acer Aspire v5-552G-x414 freezing

:smileyhappy: Ok...I discovered a happy work-around this freezing problem until a more permanent solution can be found. It has passed a 12 hour stress test without freezing up even once using my new method. From what I can tell...the ethernet & wi-fi drivers are conflicting badly with each other. You CAN'T have both on at the same time, or your system will lockup the 1st time it needs to connect online for anything...ie browser, downloads, or updates. In order to get your system to stop locking up all you have to do is open up Device Manager & disable whatever Network Adapter that you're NOT using at the time & then you can get online, updates & downloads just fine. So if you want to use your ethernet port to get online...simply open up "Device Manager" & click onto "Network Adapters" & disable your Wi-Fi driver. When you're out & about town & you need to use your Wi-Fi to get online...say at Star Bucks, or McDonalds or something like that, just go back into Device Manager & disable your Ethernet driver & re-enable your Wi-Fi driver. :smileyhappy:
