I recently upgraded my Acer Aspire S7 to Windows 8.1. 

As soon as I upgraded it, the screen resolution on the laptop was far lower than previously. The text is larger, the icons and taskbar larger, and everything is blurry as if it's a low resolution that is blown up onto a large screen.

When I plug the laptop into an external display, the resolution on the external display is just as it was before.

In the display settings dialogue, the resolution is set to as high as possible, and I can't find any way to change it back.

Please help.

probably you need to upgrade the VGA drivers.

what's your S7 model?
