Bought my Aspire V5-571P in April. Things were okay till recently. After trying eReovery back to factory orginal status, things were even worse, as now the longest I stayed connected was no more than ten minutes. Did not have that issue when all else was going crazy.
Checked, and saw I had the 10.0.0.209 version driver, dated September 2012. Installed the 225 version, problem solved.
And I don't have a great 'spot' here. I am in hospital, and they have some kind of wireless setup to connect to. I sit here with my laptop, no router or anything, have to often sign back in when comp is turned off, and everyday I have to do real name, username to get a new number password, then fill in another screen with username and the new number password. Not exactly ideal but that's the way things are.

Ok folks, got Aspire V5 touch 3 months ago and had same issue as everyone here until today. I called Acer and after getting the runnaround I asked for manager. After explaining several cable visits 2 modem swaps and a router and several failed chat sessions he understood and got it right.
1. Go to Acer site to support then downloads
2. After finding you machine click wireless lan driver for Atheros to download
3. It'll take like 30 min on hardwire
4. When done extract all files
5. Find unzipped file and click blue/green setup icon
6. Let er rip. Once downloaded reboot and your driver is updated and no more limited issues.
You can't update thruogh device manager

I just want to say thank you sooo much for posting this! I had "downloaded" the updated driver before, but I did not know to go into downloads and actually set up the new driver. My wireless works perfectly now. I have been struggling with this issue for some time now and I am so relieved to have found a simple clear solution to the problem.
I actually shipped my laptop to TX to be fixed and they returned it with the same problem. Needless to say their support center is worthless and apparently so is their repair center. They supposedly updated the BIOS and drivers and then tested the computer. I was on the internet at home for five minutes after I got my laptop back and experienced the limited connectivity issue. I do not understand how they could have possibly "tested" it if this happened to me in such a short period of time. I called support to tell them that the problem had not been fixed and they actually had the nerve to tell me to ship it to them again! I start law school monday and I already had to go through all of orientation without my computer, I was not about to go without it for another two weeks and receive it back unfixed again.
With the obvious number of people who are having issues with this, ACER needs to take responsibilty to the customers and give them information about how to fix this common problem. Because of the lack of care and complete incompetence of the company, I will never purchase an Acer again and I will tell everyone I know about this horrible experience. It's pretty sad that I had to figure out this issue on my own AFTER the repair technicians "worked" on it.

I decided to play around the settings of my laptop too and found a solution and realised there is no problem with the driver that comes with the latop intially but the network driver is configured to turn itself off after few minuits to save battery life. this can also work for u try this , if u are using window 8, go to Settings-->Device Menager-->Network Adapter--> (Qualcomm Atheros Communications) yours could be different depending on your driver version-->Power Managment--> uncheck the box which says "alow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Now is working perfectly after I turned the setting off, I hope it works for u also.

Hey guys I hope someone can help me out I am having a different kind of issue. I just bought my Acer v5-571P-6604 and when the laptop is connected to wifi it stays connected and works fine. But when I close the laptop lid my computer goes to sleep and when I wake it up it disconnects from my wireless network. This only happens sometimes. Most of the time I open the lid wake it up and everything is good to go. But now and then it will be disconnected and when I try to reconnect in the task bar it takes multiple tries. It fails to connect 2-3 times before finally connecting. I know this isnt a big issue but I shouldnt have to sit here for 5 minutes trying to reconnect my computer out of sleep. Anyone have a solution? Also I have the newest driver (.225) installed.

I have a new Aspire V5 Touch Win8, bought in Australia.
Commments?
Edit: eBay seller refused to part-refund me for having to use a USB dongle, so I am going to send this back for full refund via PayPal.
I will not buy another Acer product .... ever. Nor will anyone in my family.

I struggled with this issue previously, but gave up because I was too busy and could just piggy-back on my other half's separate work internet via a wired connection. However, this became untenable (translation: I listened to too much internet radio this weekend and the traffic shot up noticeably). I installed the driver, which I'd downloaded in May (but hadn't installed, due to pressure of work and then forgetting about the whole thing because the wired connection was fine), but it didn't make an ounce (or even 28.35g) of difference.
Having noticed a post here about using an external wi-fi antenna, we recalled that we had a TP-Link one in the house (sometimes it's good to hoard), so we set about downloading and installing the drivers and gave it a whirl. Success! Whereas previously our connection was unable to get through the introduction to New Order's Blue Monday on my radio programme of choice, with the external antenna, it got through all 7 minutes and 29 seconds of it.
To cut a long story short, since Acer's last driver update hasn't worked, the cheapest option for dealing with this issue would seem to be to acquire an external wi-fi antenna. I would suggest that Acer should be providing customers who complain about this issue with a free wi-fi antenna, because the company seems to be incapable of solving the issue.
I certainly won't be buying an Acer again when I retire this laptop. I bought this particular laptop (V5-571PG Touch with Win 8) because of the fast processor and ample hard drive capacity (I run some quite heavy translation memory software), but that's useless if my internet connection keeps dropping out to the extent that I can't send or receive big files or download the bulky PDFs that sometimes serve as my reference material. While I've found the solution without having to spend any more money, thanks to having the necessary dongle around the house, it's not fair of Acer to expect people who may have saved hard to get a good laptop to have to shell out for another bit of kit. Poor show, Acer.

My Acer Aspire V running Windows 8 is a week out of the box. Have tried disabling the bluetooth and ethernet, wifi connection is still dropping every couple of minutes no matter what network I'm on or how many devices are on the network. It doesn't want to update the driver and like others, can't keep it connected long enough to download much of anything properly. Need the laptop to work in a strictly wireless office. This issue is totally unacceptable.

the post above is well intentioned and fine for out of warranty jobs but isn't something you should do if your laptop is under warranty !!!
