Hello!
I have Acer Aspire V5 573G for around rwo months and so far I am happy with it. Yesterday I checked for updates and found out that there are some newer updates including the bios, which is claiming system performance improvement. I could not resist and flasshed the new bios and installed the rest of the newest driver updates. The previous BIOS version was 2.25 and I updated it to 2.26. Everithing went smooth and the computer worked just fine. BUT when I removed the battery the copmputer starts normally, works for about a minute and shuts down without any error or warning!!!
With version 2.25 it worked with or without the battery inside the computer. With the newer version 2.26 it works with the battery inside for hours but when I remove the battery it shuts down after a minute. There is no overheating or something. I guess this is some kind of protection but what if for some reason I lose the battery...?
I want to be able to use the computer without the battery just like I used to before the BIOS update.
Can you help me? Is there a way to downgrade the BIOS back to version 2.25? Maybe there is a setting or fix for this strange behavior?
Thanks in advance!

Hi!
I hope Acer responds quickly to this problem. I tried to downgrade to the previous version of bios with no success.
Tomorrow I am going to take the computer to a Acer partner service center for my country. I will let you know if I find any solution to the problem.

Hi,
I've faced with the same issue after BIOS upgrade to 2.26 on Acer V5-573G (2.22 --> 2.26)
The sympthom was that notebook worked fine on battery and performed an accidental shutdown in 3-5 min after connecting to AC power. I was lucky and got a replacement but now I see that need to wait with 2.26 BIOS update on my replaced V5.
Dear rjotto,
please share your news if possible - probably Acer partner service will recommend something
Hope, that Acer will address this issue and next BIOS version will fix that.

Hi!
The technician from the rapair center told me that there is nothing wrong with the laptop and it is intended to operate with the battery inside all the time. So the strange behavior observed by me is of no concern for them.
So I asked him to flash the previous bios version 2.25 and I am still waiting for Acer to provide them with that version of bios and the tool to flash it over the new one.
For now that is all I know.

I have the exactly same problem, too.
update bios, shutting down power.
I think the main problem is nvidia optimus driver.
not installed nvidia graphic driver, there's no power shutting down.
Please Acer, Do make fix this bios problem as fast as you can.

I am still waiting for the repair center to flash the old bios version 2.25. And they say that they are still waiting for Acer to send them the bios and the tools to flash it. Really stupid situation. I already regret the purchase of this brand and this particular model. It is a shame because it has very good specs and looks nice but the quality is low and the softawre support is tragedy.
In the mean time I saw that bios version 2.26 has been removed from the support page for my country. Hmmmmm.....
