Hi , I just got my new laptop for Christmas and everything was fine until I installed windows 8.1, ever since then my computer started disconnecting from the Wi-Fi when all my other devices were connecting. I have tried changing the driver, unchecking 'allow windows to turn this off to save power' and when I try and install a new driver it just brings me to a file that I don't have a clue what to do with. Im not sure if this is a hardware problem (in which case I will take it back to the store I bought it from) or a software compatibility problem. Either way please help, it's so annoying not being able to access the internet without an Ethernet cable

To determine if the problem is hardware related, you can try recovering your system to Windows 8. If the problem still exists in Windows 8, then it would be a hardware problem. If reloading Windows 8 fixes the issue, then you can try installing the Windows 8.1 drivers for your system, then updating the system to Windows 8.1.
