Hi,
Lately, our shop are having a lot of returns with the Acer Aspire M5 (Timeline) (early 2013 model) partnr: 581T-6405. It's a renew (factory refurbished) product. Short specifications:
Acer Aspire M5 581T-6405
Intel Core i5 3337U / 1.8 GHz
6GB RAM
500GB HDD + 20GB SSD
Intel Graphics 4000
Windows 8
The problems are:
Not turning on anymore
Turning on, but black screen.
Not turning on we solved by opening the laptop, and reconnecting the battery cable. But after a few weeks, the problem returns.
The black screen problem we solved by removing the 20GB SSD card.
Are this problems known by Acer, and is anyone having the same issues? Or maybe someone has a solution? It's not just 1 laptop, but we're talking about 10% out of 150 laptops.
Awaiting your answers,
Joey

I looked into the issue you are describing, and I do not see information that would help pinpoint where the problem is. One thing that could be happening, is a lower case screw may be coming loose. This system is equipped with a safety feature that can disable the internal battery if the lower case screws are not completely tightened.
I would suggest contacting technical support in your region for further assistance with this issue.
