3rd party metro apps wont open after updating to 8.1 (ACER V5-571PG)

Hi.

I own two Acer Aspire v5 - 571PG, just upgraded to windows 8.1 and now all 3rd party apps won't open. They load their splash screen, then disappear to the metro taskbar where they stay (Ebay, XE currency, etc). All Acer and MS apps seem to work fine. I run Norton 360, have tried disabling it and still no success. Also have tried the app trouble shooter. All desktop apps work fine. Please help!
