hi!

i have acer s7 and tried to install fresh copy of windows 10, from usb that i tested working on other acer s7 for instalilng (UEFI installing).

1. I've entered the boot

2. changed to legacy mode

3. pressed ctrl+I

4. delleted the partition

5. created new partition

6. changed back to UEFI mode

7. made the boot security disabled.

8. inserted USB whith windows 10 installation.

9. choosing install in unallocated space.

10. installation copied the files smooth, then it need to restart in order to continue installation.

in this point, after restard the installation does not continue, and the "no bootable device" error apear.

what can i do?

You already used the USB to install Win 10 on another s7?

Check the bios. Is it still set to UEFI?

Is the whole drive one partition?

I would make another USB with Rufus  https://rufus.akeo.ie/

    and try it again.

    nenene3,

You can't just toggle back-n-forth between legacy/MBR and UEFI/GPT.  There's lots of stuff happening in the background with your firmware when you do that, including the loading of certain drivers and checking the status of current partition style on the disk.  It's always best/important to start with a clean, unpartitioned disk....and let the Windows installer automatically partition and format your HDD or SSD for you..... (unless you're an intermediate to advanced user).

The link below is for Windows 8.1, but it's the same instructions for clean installing Windows 10 in default EFI mode.  Every step is important and there's a specific reason behind every step.  And it will hopefully help you get out of your current mess.  Smiley Happy

Please read all of my posts in thread before your begin.

Edit: I'll try to explain to you why the "shutdown step" solved his problem after he wiped his drive with "diskpart clean".....

Even though his hard drive was in an uninitialized state after he wiped it, his UEFI didn't detect it as uninitialized  until he powercycled the computer.   When he powercycled, his UEFI did a re-detect.  In other words, he was stuck in legacy mode.....just like you.  Smiley Happy

Just a thought but I have seen this when the wrong boot order is selected. I had to make the Microsoft Hard Disk (or SSD) the first boot device and use F12 if necessary to boot from something else.

The boot order is set in the BIOS.

    @padgett @philetus @nenene3

It dawned on me that he's trying to follow this..........

    Please disregard my post.

Edit: But if you're trying to force the UEFI to become "un-stuck" from legacy mode and force the installation as EFI you can type.....

    diskpart>convert GPT

This will work as long as the disk in question is an uninitialized state (no partitions) before you type that command.
