I have an Acer R7 572 which hard drive crashed. I did not create a Acer Factory restore thumb drive so I ordered one from the Acer Store. I follow the instruction which came with the thumb drive.1. connect thumb drive. 2.Reboot the computer and press F12. 3. Select USB HDD from boot option. 4. Follow instruction on the screen.  THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS. Once the download finished and the thumb drive was removed I get a message that states load bootable device. According to information I found on line, the thumb drive should ask me a series of question before execution. See video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcxIZqO4JrY . I received two factory restore thumb drives from Acer and both preform the same and not like the video. any suggestions?

I have Win 8.1. I tried this and it does not resolve the issue. This is a virgin hard drive and an Acer store purchased factory restore thumb drive which is not function an the video illustrate.

    415.

I bought a brand new solid state drive. I installed a clean copy of windows 8.1 first. And then I used the acer recovery media.

It's time consuming but it works.

    415,

have you check that the HDD is listed on BIOS?

press F2 at boot to enter BIOS and look under SATA devices (main page) if the HDD is listed.
