Aspire R14 - Can I set keyboard backlight to always on?

Hi.  I bought a new Aspire R14 a few days ago and it is an awesome computer.  I already love the thing.  It is really a brilliant device and a great value with the latest Intel processor and a solid state hard drive.

One thing that I would like to change however is to have the keyboard backlight not reset to off every time I close the lid.  I like the fact that the keyboard goes dark if I don't press a key for a bit and then lights back up when I do press something.  That functionality turns off, however, when you close the laptop lid and then you have to re-enable it with a press of function-F10.  It would be great if the auto on with a keystroke was always enabled.  People could just turn it down if they don't want the backlight.

Actually, I would love it if the keyboard would just stay lit up all the time and I could turn it down/off when I want.  I realize this might make a small drain on the battery but I think it is a reasonable tradeoff for the increased usability.  From what I have read, this may have been the default setting in the past.  It would be pretty cool if there was a setting to allow people to choose how this function operated.

Thanks for your consideration.  Again, great computer and I really could not be any more excited about my purchase!

I agree, there should be an option for backlighting all the time

I too love this computer it was a great buy. I also agree that would be a great feature.  At least let me increase the time out.

Did you figure anything out on this.. I also want to be able to change mine to always on.. I use my comp at night on the desk and would be great if it stayed lit up and upon opening was lit up or closed based on the last time I closed the lid. Right now the backlight goes off after 30 sec or so.. very annoying for uch a great machine.
