Acer s7 recovery management USB - Insufficient space on the disk

My S7 Installation is hosed so I ordered the recovery USB stick to return the laptop back to factory config. I boot off the usb stick and I've configured the drive two ways:

1. default

119gb total disk space

15gb hidden partition size

50% system partition ratio

2. no hidden partition

100% system partition ratio

Both go through the format and partitioning without problem.

With settings from #1, the system gives me an error saying that "There is insufficient space onthe disk for the temporary files required for this operation."

When I try #2, it goes through an endless loop of reboots.

Help!!!!!

ok, let's try this:

from the recovery screen, if you press shift+F10 keys, are you able to bring up a command prompt?

if so, try to wipe your SSD:

once in command prompt type
diskpart
then on diskpart type
list disk
take note of the correct disk ID to erase
type
select disk x
(x is the ID of your HDD to erase)
type
clean all
type exit

it will take some minutes and up to 1 hour to do it, so be patient.

honestly i never seen that screen request on Acer recovery but i can only suggest you to set the hidden partition size at around 25GB.

That's the annoying part. Total disk space and system partition size boxes are read only. I can only change the percentage.

You, sir, have made my day!

I didn't have a recovery screen to do a shift-f10 on so I managed to stop the batch file on the recovery screen before it rebooted. Ran diskpart and did the "clean all" and it worked!

So happy that it's up and running but not so happy that it's windows 8. Mixed emotions on this one! Smiley Very Happy

Forgot to add this: My situation didn't have a recovery screen where I could do a Shift+f10 to get to a command prompt. I had to go to the restore command window, hit control-c a bunch of times then cancel the restore. That forced the abort on the batch file before it rebooted so that I could get to the command prompt.
