I've recently discovered that my battery icon has disappeard on the task bar.
I've tried finding this in Ctrl Panel, Power Options but have yet to locate the menu to turn the icon back on, does anyone have any other suggestions?

I am having a similar problem. Searched the web and read if you go into the control panel and click on system, click on Hardware and at the top you will see Batteries. Click on the plus sign, you will see 2 entries. Click on the lower entry and open up the next window. Then click on delete. DO NOT do this to the first or upper entry. Once done go back to the desktop and shut down Windows. Restart and Windows will relaod the driver for the Battery icon. It worked once for me but have not been able to get it to do it again. Should be able to go to Microsoft and download the driver but haven't had any luck with that approach, yet.
The one time I got the icon to work i saw that the battery was only 40 some percent charged and it has been on charge for many hours if not days. Then the next time I boot up the icon is gone. My question also is, why won't the icon stay on the tassk bar? If it worked once it should work again.

Right click in taskbar>properties>taskbar>customize>Turn system icons on or off>power>on then Customize notification icons>Power Sowicon and notifications OR check "always show all icons and notifications".
