I have an Acer V5-571pg-9814 with Windows 8 pre-installed.
I have been trying to boot a Linux live usb and can't even get a USB or CD/DVD to boot at all.
I want to check some of the Linux OSs to see how they may set up on this computer before I consider which to dual boot with Win8. Please note that I have read other posts here about actually installing another OS as a dual boot, which I may need later, but right now I would just like to use the live USB or CD/DVD and view these OSs - and I didn't find a post that directly addressed this issue.
I have tried to enable and use F12 (it's default is set to disabled in the bios). I've tried to use Win8: charms > pc settings > advanced > reboot - to troubleshooting > advanced options - and then into use USB or use CD/DVD, orinto UEFI or startup settings for the boot order and bios.
The computer does recognize the USB and CD/DVD, but only boots straight to Win8 - no matter what option I choose or even if I set the boot order to USB and CD/DVD prior to Win8.
So how do I boot from a USB or CD/DVD?

Seems like a long way around to just view bootable media...
And one can only hope that you don't end up like this:
Guess this one is solved...?
