I recently downloaded the file "acerCloudinstaller2_02_3007" from AcerCloud website, and during the installation process it failed to continue just after the files were unpacked. For some unknown reason, the application launched my web edit application, showing the following text:
Dim oShell
Set oShell = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Shell")
oShell.run "run.bat", 0, True
Set oShell = Nothing
Could you tell me what's going here? I tried several time but got the same results. Your assistance on this matter would be very much appreciated, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Thanks for your response, and I have noted your comments.
Further review of AcerCloud site: http://www.acer.com/acercloud/eng/download.html indicates that even though the AcerCloud application is workable with PC running Windows 7 & 8, you still need to select the suitable Product Name and Model Number from the available drop down list under the Support Device section of the site. Unfortunately, my Acer Aspire Model M3970 is not shown on the drop down list at this site and, as such, I take it that my PC is not complient with AcerCloud application. How could this be? I already created a cloud account and also have the Android application installed on my Acer Tablet. But I need to have AcerCloud Portal application installed on my PC in order to sync it with the Tablet. Please avise.

It’s my pleasure,
the website http://www.acer.com/acercloud/eng/download.html you provided is the old version, my AcerCloud applications are downloaded from the newest AcerCloud offical website at "https://www.cloud.acer.com/ops/downloads", which needn’t suit device's model number, recommend you to follow this link to reinstall the AcerCloud apps on your computer.
And based on my experience, the text file is a Visual Basic Script problem of your computer, I guess that would be a file left on computer from your anti-virus software such as McAfee, etc. Could you tell me what anti-virus software your computer pre-installed?
Look forward to your reply.

Thanks for your resopnse and I have noted your comments. I followed the new link that you provided but, unfortunately, the application failed just after the software was unpacked. In other words, the outcome is the same.
My computer came with McAfee anti-virus pre-installed, but I had it uninstalled and replaced with Norton 360. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the Visual Basic Script file and wondered if you could help me to resolve this problem.
Your cooperation and assistance on this matter would be very much appriciated, and I await to hear from you soonest.

Ok, don’t worry about that.
As expected, it mostly happens in PC which installed McAfee. Now I’m sure this is a legacy of problem when you uninstall anti-virus software and may be not cleaned up completely.
It is recommended that you can run a McAfee removal tool and then try installing to remove it. I think that problem can be solved. Download the McAfee Removal Tool (MCPR.exe 3MB) from the McAfee site: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_
And by the way, to prevent abnormal situation from happening, it's best to remove all antivirus first, and then install AcerCloud.

I have exactly the same problem. I have tried the installation on 2 PCs & get the same error message. I have run the McAfee removal software. Has anyone managed to get this software to work?

I also ran the McAfee Removal Software but the problem persists. I may be wrong but I believe that the AcerCloud application has a Visual Basic Script that is trigering this error during the installation/setup. Does any one knows how a Visual Basic Script works and how to fix this problem? I'm totally frustrated and will have to uninstall the application from my Acer Tablet if this problem is not resolved by the end of this month, which is a sad state of affair.

Well, it seems your default .vbs file was launched by your web edit, so you may try to modify the .vbs default launched by Windows Based Script Host.

Hi Yuckily,
Thanks for your insight on this matter. I'm not a Techi - How exactly do you go about modifying the .vbs default launched by Windows Based Script Host? Your assistance would be very much appreciated, and await to hear from you soon.
