Pointhand gesture control not working on Acer Aspire 5600U

I recently purchased the above all in one computer and have followed the tutorial on the pointhand gesture control for hours and cannot get it to recognize my hand signals and, yet, it is turned on and the camera pops up in a little box on the screen when it is turned on. Can anyone provide any hints as to why I am having this problem?
