The Ethernet connection does not function on my Win7 Aspire 5951G-6879.

Thewireless Broadcom network adapter does function.

I have repaired the Realtek driver and re-installed the chipset.

What else can I do?

Thank you.

Did your laptop come with Windows 7 or did you downgrade from 8? Try running Windows Update and looking in the update logs to see if it offers a driver for your ethernet connection

The answer was very simple, when I figured it out - disconnect the wireless connection and the wired connection will automatically connect.

    Thanks for helping.
