Bitlocker on second hand Aspire

So my mother has just got a second hand Switch 11 running Windows 8.1. I needed to do a full restore as she @rsed something up and it would not work as a required device wasn't connected or could not be accessed. I went into BIOS to disable secure boot and now it will only give me bluescreen with the message "there are no more Bitlocker recovery options on your PC". Perhaps the previous owners enabled Bitlocker which has popped up because I made a change in the BIOS settings? I will try and get hold of the bitlocker key but I cannot get off this screen or enter anything so even if I had the Bitlocker key I cannot enter it. Is there any way to blast through this Bitlocker cr@p or is this yet another way in which windows 8 has decided to screw with me ... I have so much hate for 8 Smiley Sad   ...   any help greatly appreciated!
