Aspire R5-57TIG display issues

I recently bought an Acer Aspire R5-57TIG from Best Buy the other day and it's perfect. However, it appears as if there seems to be a slight issue with the graphics/display drivers on this laptop. It's subtle, but I notice minor glitches in the pixels; so far only seeing them within my internet browser, certain pop-up windows, and this hangouts app when I change the size of the window. This isn't too much of an issue for me, as these distortions go away almost quickly as they appear and aren't that bothersome, but I don't want it to get worse. What could be the cause of this? Is it something simple, like having to update a driver, or do I have to return my computer?

(As for the specs, it has a 1TB HDD drive, 12gb of ram, an intel 520 and nvidia geforce 940MX graphics card, and an intel i7 processor.)

Update: I did some research and I found that this is a common issue for users with various brands of computers with intel-branded display drivers, as I've found here.

There seem to be only two fixes that may or may not help the problem:

1. Disable "Hardware Acceleration" in Firefox.

2. Install the newest version of the display driver directly from Intel.

(This isn't a possibly for me because Acer has a custom drive.)

Hopefully the Acer version of the Intel update makes its way to the drivers page soon so the issue can be resolved.

Just in the "confirm close" bars.

Have you tried rolling the display driver back to a previous version ? I remember one driver that made the whole screen flash. Had to turn on the "High Contrast" mode during boot to see anything.

I haven't. The option is grayed out, unfortunately. I just bought the computer a few days ago so I don't think there is a previous version.

First, record the driver version, manufacturer, and date for the current display driver.

Does it match either display driver at the support page ? If earlier, try the one for your chipset (Intel or Nvidia).

If not you could try Uninstall>Delete>Reboot of the driver and let the device find and install the current version. See if it is different.

One of the most persistent problems has been the display drivers and Acer just must accept what Intel or Nvidia provides.

Alright. I doublechecked the drivers and matched them up to the support page and this is what I found.

As you can see, the Intel display drivers appear to be completely up to date, as they have the same version number. The only thing that's different is date:

The same can be seen for the NIVIDIA graphics card:

The only one that might seem to be out of date according to the support page is the chipset, but I could be looking at the wrong driver listed:

I would like to also note that intel's website lists what appear to be updated versions for the i7 and the 520 graphics card that seem to address a problem similar to what I have had. Although, when I downloaded the installer it told me that the drivers are custom made to Acer and I would risk damaging my computer by installing them:

What should I do at this point?

Is your computer still under warrenty ? If so ask Acer.

Personally I have seen Intel or someone play games with version numbers before, slipstreaming in fixes without changing the version number (.1170 comes to mind) so unless you know your driver is the same as the May version I'd probably load that package first.

As to a beta on an Intel site, I have seen a rong driver make everything after the login unusable (had to go into HighContrast mode just to get far enough to Uninstall/delete the driver). So is up to you.

I would assume so. Like I said, this computer is brand new.

It is best to use an Acer driver but does not mean I would not try something from Intel and see what happens. After all the display is from someone else and the 520 Graphics engine is part of the SOC.

Now one thing I am not understanding is what is the Nvidia driving ? Does yours have two video chipsets ?

Also have you tried it with an external monitor to see if it does the same thing ?

It's not a possibility because it literally will not allow me to install it onto my system. I get an error message.

And I have two drivers because one is for the display (intel), and the other NIVIDA graphics driver is meant for gaming or Photoshop functions.

And I have used it as an HDMI output to my TV and I could still see the distortion. If it were the screen itself, the pixels would not react to my cursor or the programs I was using, unlike my previous laptop that I just replaced because of pixel death.

Well the only other thing I have seen do anything similar is a loose display connection but if happens on two different displays I'd have to say either a driver issue or hardware.
