My RL80 will power on, the fan comes on, but beeps continuosly and will not come on up.  I cannot tell if the HD is spinning up.

Assembly date 1/13.  4 gig ram, 500 G HD.

Tried unplugging the battery and moving the bios clear jumper.  Still doing the same thing.

No such luck... way out of warranty time...  So, I guess it's take the HD out of it and toss the box?

Thanks for the hint IronFly...  I cleaned the contacts on the memory stick and used a soft brush on the memory slots.

    No change.

I tried some other memory (2 8g sticks) and got the same problem.  I think the memory controller on the MB is damaged.

This maybe a hopeless cause to revive the system.  I will need to pull the HD out and get what data I have on it out and re-use the drive in my son's laptop.

If you have any more suggestions, I will take them.

Next, should I attempt to load the bios from USB?  If so, what are the procedures for this system?

Have you tried to boot to BIOS without any ram stick?

Cannot get the system to come up to a display. It just howls continuously.

    hmmmm

Disconnect the AC cable, take off ram sticks, HDDs and disconnect the CMOS battery (it's near the USB ports, can be yellow), wait 5 minutes, put back the CMOS battery, connect the AC cable (be carefull) and try to boot.

    Hello All,

When unit has one continuosly beep according to  AMIBIOS display. Continuous one long beep means>>  Memory not installed or memory error.
