Acer Revo R3700 not seeing 4TB USB-attached hard drive

(Posting for a friend who has this hardware model.)
Have an Acer Aspire Revo R3700 with Intel Atom D525 chipset type.  To the best of knowledge, all drivers & BIOS have been updated to the latest & greatest available for download from Acer.com.

Received a 4TB external USB hard drive for Christmas for use with the Revo as a secondary data drive, but when plugged in, Windows (Win7 x64 SP1) Disk Management only recognizes it as a 2TB drive.  It's been initialized using GPT scheme, but that made no difference.  Also tried converting it to a Dynamic disk, but that made no difference.

Wondering if there's an unreconcilable hardware limitation that's preventing OS from recognizing the full physical size of the disk.  Or, anything else that can be looked at/tried to fix this.

Thanks
