you will probably want to put it in "Legacy" mode in the BIOS (F2 upon bootup) - I just installed WIndows 7 that way (I hated Windows 8) --- now I'm currently trying to find drivers!

What carlgt1 is saying true. You need to set the bios to legacy mode. After that you should have no problem installing Windows 7 other than trying to install driver. Acer only has Windows 8 drivers and all may not be compatable with Windows 7.

Sorry to tell you friend, but ACER are best pals with Microsoft, and Microsoft wants to sell Windows 8, therefore, they have disabled the possibility to install Windows 7 when UEFI is enabled!
I've tried these steps (just so you know .)
First I set a supervisor password to gain access to the security settings in the BIOS. Usually, security settings under UEFI are the reason for not being able to install Windows operating systems under UEFI. I then disabled Security - while still having UEFI enabled. After that, I tried running the install DVD. This didn't work out, because Windows 7 install froze right before it got to the point where you can choose to install and set up drives. This happened with downloaded Windows 7 ISO files off of M$ (both SP1 and pre-SP1)
I then purchased a new Windows 7 DVD to see if - for some reason - the BIOS had some kind of setting to see if this was a recorded or printed DVD. This changed nothing apart from me getting a little poorer money-wise.
The only way I could complete a Windows 7 (Pro) install, was by disabling UEFI. This is - by all definitions - a way to force computer users to use the newest Windows if they want features like GPT boot drives, which is exactly the reason why I need UEFI enabled! You cannot install Windows on a GPT formatted drive without UEFI enabled.
I also purchased an external DVD drive to see if this made a difference, since some people suggest that installing from an external device does the trick.
Let me tell you; nothing works. I've created bootable pen drives, DVDs, USB harddisks, you name it. No go!
UEFI doesn't even recognize the USB pen drives as bootable. It refuses to install Windows 7 with UEFI enabled.
This is undoubtedly the first and last time I've been a customer. I might as well look into another brand and see if I can sell this useless pile of scrap.
I haven't been this disappointed with a computer product ever before.
Shame on you ACER!!

You can use the drivers, most are both Windows 7 and Windows 8. You will still need to find an Ethernet driver (Broadcom) and a USB3.0 driver, which I haven't been able to determine the brand of, since Windows 8 installs a generic USB3.0 driver.
Hope this is helpful, and if anyone knows which brand of USB3.0 is used in this notebook, do tell, since USB3.0 isn't officially "supported" under Windows 7 and never will be since Microsoft wants to sell some more Windows 8.
Another notebook and another OS would probably altogether be the charm.
Has anyone tried installing any Linux distros on this notebook? If so; how did it pan out?

Hello there...i had the same problem...graphics kept crashing on Win8...i flashed the bios...the bios locked...Acer service in my country was asking 40 euros to unlock it (!!!)...i found a key generator online (Lucky!!!!!) disabled uefi and now i'm trying to install win7. A usb 3 controller was found by another member of the community (Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel® 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family) but i haven't found a driver for ethernet either... Any ideas?????

UEFI only supports 64 bit.
However, I am having the same problem with myV3 771-G. Installed fine in legacy, but can't use boot manager to dual boot.

I managed to find the right usb and lan drivers for Win7 for this machine. Download direct from broadcom for the Ethernet controller: http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxt
I couldn't find a way around using legacy boot mode (non-uefi) and the legacy sata setting in the system BIOS, but these drivers work on my machine. I have an Aspive V3 - 772G-9822. Cheers.
